Spark

Spark

Ground tremors. Shrinking trees. And even a stray Capuchin monkey. It’s 1962, and something strange is happening in Palisade, Colorado.

Ethan Dranger has a fascination for the stars. As a young child, he and his father would trace constellations with their fingers in the night sky. Now, ten years after his father’s untimely death inside the Orion Gold Mine, something in the mine is calling out to him. So together with Chaz, his best friend, and Nadia McGee, the most popular girl in town, the unlikely trio set out to discover the secrets held deep inside the mine.

But Ethan is not the only one investigating the mysterious phenomena, and which side prevails could have unimaginable consequences for Ethan's world, and beyond.

The ensuing adventure brings Ethan face-to-face with his deepest fears, shows him glimpses of a past he did not know, and opens his eyes to a potentially limitless future.

Spark is an endearing coming-of-age story that is equal parts sci-fi, mystery, and adventure. Although appropriate for readers of any age, the teenage protagonist will be most appealing to a YA audience. Skillfully crafted and meticulously plotted, this book is sure to keep you guessing until the last page.
